The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department (SSD) announced that they are to receive grants of $280,300 and $46,300 for use in specialized training in handling DUI drunk and drugged drivers and DUI checkpoints. The education, roving patrols and checkpoints will beef up enforcement for DUI in Rancho Cordova.
The other city police departments within Sacramento County handle their own DUI investigations and arrests already. We know this because the Law Office of Denis White has been actively representing people arrested for DUI by the Citrus Heights Police Department, Folsom Police Department, Elk Grove Police Department, Galt Police Department and/or the Sacramento Police Department for nearly 20 years.
The SSD provides officers for law enforcement purposes in Rancho Cordova but when it comes to DUI investigations, the job is turned over to the CHP. This grant signals a change in that policy. Without specific training in the area of DUI detection, investigation, arrests and report writing, law enforcement would be unable to adequately assist in the prosecution of the crime.
Rancho Cordova will no longer be a safe haven for drinking and driving. Start looking for responsible alternatives. If you have questions on DUI arrests, defenses or potential penalties give Denis White and Amie Beighley a call at (916) 444-3300.
